India said- Rumors of the Rajapaksa family taking refuge in the country; The army denied the order to shoot

The situation of civil war has become in Sri Lanka, which is facing the biggest economic crisis till date. The demonstration of the people has become very furious. The protesters surrounded the Prime Minister's official residence and threw several petrol bombs in it. Cars burnt. The houses of many ministers have been burnt. So far about 200 people have been injured and 8 people have died. An MP is also among the dead.


The rumor of the Rajapaksa family fleeing to India was hot in the past. India Embassy has termed these reports as rumor and false. The Embassy issued a statement saying- Recently such rumors have been spread on the media and social media that some political persons and their families have fled to India, which is not true.


Yesterday there was news that the army has issued an order that the miscreants should be shot at sight. However, Sri Lankan Chief of Defense Staff and Army Commander General Shavendra Silva has denied this claim. Silva said that the army would not take such steps under any circumstances. Curfew has been imposed across the country to control violent protests.


According to the Sri Lankan police, the CID will record the statement of the security officer of former PM Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has extended the nationwide curfew till May 12.

So far 8 people have died in the violence, while more than 100 properties were damaged.

The opposition is preparing to move a no-confidence motion in Parliament amid political instability.


Demand to appoint a new government soon

The resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has created a political vacuum in the country. In this regard, Sri Lankan exporters have demanded the appointment of a new government soon. The Joint Apparel Association Forum condemned the ongoing violence, saying it is important that a new government is appointed soon to fill the existing political void. We appeal to the leaders and officials to immediately restore political stability across the country.
